Prevention Services and Family Support

Strengthening Our Families

We are dedicated to building strong, healthy families. Our prevention and support services are designed to provide families with the tools, resources, and guidance they need to navigate challenges, foster child well-being, and create a nurturing home environment before issues escalate to a crisis.

Prevention Services and Family Support

PREVENTION PROGRAMS, SERVICES, AND SOCIALS OFFERED

Kunuwanimano Child and Family Services works in collaboration with 11 First Nation communities and Indigenous Urban Service Providers for Indigenous families.

Prevention services offer culturally relevant programs with a focus on the well-being of children and youth, the promotion of healthy family relationships and family preservation. Youth programs are supported for independent living.

Cultural teachings

Our cultural team, Elders and Knowledge Keepers guide us through storytelling, ceremony, and teachings about First Nations traditions, values, and languages and ancestral ways of life. Cultural teachings help children and families connect through their unique identity and to each other.

Family Gatherings

Connecting as a community to share meals, and activities that promote unity and healing. Through powwows, feasts, and community events, we create opportunities, to share, learn and grow together.

Parenting Programs

Parenting programs that help parents build secure attachment, and cultural identity. These programs are designed to be accessible, and support parents in responding to the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs of their children, and themselves.

Traditional Land-based Activities

Land-based programs are holistic and healing. They promote physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness while sharing traditional knowledge linked to where we are, where we come from and our connection to all living things.

Household Management Skills

Life skills programs create opportunities to strengthen communication, problem-solving and planning skills. Discover approaches to personal budgeting and things to consider when making financial decisions. Join us for traditional and modern approaches to meal planning and preparation and connect over a shared meal.
