JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the Therapeutic Caregiver is responsible providing family-based care for children and youth who are behaviorally challenging and require enhanced, full-time care.


  • Must reside within our districts
  • Experience working with First Nations
  • BSW, BSc preferred
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience working with children/youth with behavioural, mental health, complex medical needs, and/or complex special needs
  • Have demonstrated knowledge/education and skills in managing children/youth with a range of needs
  • Successfully pass a SAFE home study assessment
  • Be skilled at working as part of a team along with community resources such as schools, therapists, health care providers and law enforcement
  • Be eager to participate in ongoing professional development
  • Successfully complete PRIDE (Parent Resources for Information, Development, and Education) training. This training will be provided.


  • Provide 24/7 caregiving
  • Ensure the provision of equitable, respectful, and culturally relevant service
  • Be able to work in collaboration with Kunuwanimano staff, community agencies and other support systems to help manage the children/youth in their care
  • Have an understanding and training as it relates to children’s behaviours, and willing to continue to improve their knowledge through training and development
  • Contribute to behaviour management and safety plans
  • Commit to ongoing training and skill development
  • Commit to work with children/youth through the transitional time period and beyond
  • Commit to work with the child’s family and Band to ensure connection with culture
