JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of a Program Manager, the Resource Lead will ensure service delivery of the Alternative Care program in accordance to the Foster Care Licensing Standards within the Agency’s jurisdiction and are responsible for the training of First Nation Alternative Care providers within the Agency’s eleven (11) member First Nation communities, and the ability to ensure the appropriate placement of children in these homes.


  • Completion of MSW/BSW, (Native Specialty preferred) or Diploma or Certificate in Child Care and/or Social Services may also be considered;
  • The following Certificates would be considered definite assets: 1) Ontario Looking After Children (ONLAC); 2) “New Hire” Module Training; and PRIDE and SAFE Modules;
  • Two (2) years of previous supervisory experience within a social service context;
  • Experience in working with culturally appropriate service models for First Nations People.


  • Ensure the provision of fair, equitable, respectful and culturally relevant services to First Nations children and families, consistent with the vision, mission and values of Kunuwanimano;
  • adherence to the Agency’s Alternative Care policies and procedures;
  • Develop a network complement of Alternative Care providers within the eleven (11) member First Nation communities and Agency`s jurisdiction;
  • Ensure that Recruitment, selection, training and support for Alternative Care providers and families within the Kunuwanimano Child & Family Services catchment area is being completed;
  • Ensure the consistent adherence to an agency protocol for the placement of a child(ren) in care placements;
  • Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of each Alternative Care  placement;
  • Assess and recommend financial requests from Alternative Care providers; 
  • Maintain records and produce program reports as per licensing standards;
  • Oversee and contact staff meetings, seminars and training sessions as required by the agency,
  • Provide regular ongoing support to the AC team and supervisors
  • Perform other duties as required
